A dash cam is one of the best low-cost upgrades for any car — it documents accidents, protects you from false claims, and quietly watches the car when you're parked. But not all dash cams are equal. Here's what to look for.
1. True 1080p (or better) front recording
Resolution numbers are often inflated. Look for cameras with real 1080p (Full HD) sensors and Sony or Sony Starvis chips for genuinely clear night footage. 2K and 4K are nice-to-haves; clean low-light video is essential.
2. Dual-channel (front + rear)
Most claims in India involve rear collisions and lane-change disputes. A second camera covering the rear is worth far more than chasing higher front resolution.
3. Parking mode with G-sensor
Parking mode keeps the camera recording (or motion-triggered) while the car is off, catching scratches, hit-and-runs and theft attempts. A G-sensor automatically locks impact footage so it isn't overwritten.
4. Reliable storage and heat tolerance
Use a high-endurance microSD card (32–128 GB) rated for dash cam use. Cheap cards fail within months. Cabins get hot, so pick a model rated for at least 70°C operating temperature.
5. Clean install
A dash cam dangling from a USB cable is an invitation for thieves. Our team hardwires every unit to the fuse box with hidden routing — so it looks factory-fitted and runs without draining your battery.
Bring your car in and we'll recommend the right dual-channel kit for your budget, with a tidy professional install.
